IRA Eligibility

Refer to the questions below for eligibility requirements to help determine which IRA best fits your needs.

Traditional IRA

Yes   No
□   □   Did you, or will you, receive earned income for the tax year specified?
□   □   Will you be under the age of 70 ½ by December 31st of the tax year specified?

If you answered yes to both questions, you may qualify for a Traditional IRA.

Traditional IRA - Spousal

Yes   No
□   □   Did you, or will your spouse receive earned income or other eligible compensation for the tax year specified?
□   □   Will you be under the age of 70 ½ by December 31st of the tax year specified?
□   □   Will you and your spouse file a joint tax return for the year specified?

If you answered yes to all questions, you may qualify for a Traditional Spousal IRA.

Roth IRA

Yes   No
□   □   Did you, or will you, receive earned income for the tax year specified?
□   □   Did you and your spouse (if applicable) receive Modified Adjusted Gross Income, (MAGI), less than the maximum permitted for the tax year specified?
 

Note:
The maximum MAGI limit for 2017 is $186,000 for married filing jointly, $118,000 for single, and $10,000 for married filing individually.

If you answered yes to both questions, you may qualify for a Roth IRA.
 

Note: Your contribution may be limited if your MAGI exceeds certain income limits.

Roth IRA - Spousal

□   □   Will you file a joint federal income tax return for the tax year specified?
□   □   Did you and your spouse receive Modified Adjusted Gross Income, (MAGI), less than the maximum permitted for the tax year specified?
 

Note: The maximum MAGI limit for 2017 is $186,000.

If you answered yes to all questions, you may qualify for a Roth Spousal IRA.
